Julia's Generous Pledge Page
Guess what? You’ll never believe it! I’m going to Europe! On October 29, I will be in Dublin, Ireland participating in my first marathon! I will be there as a member of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training program. I will walk this 26.2-mile marathon in an effort to contribute to the Leukemia Society’s goal of curing Leukemia, the number one disease killer of children under 15 years of age. Overall, Leukemia will take an estimated 60,400 people in the United States this year. Every nine minutes a child or adult dies from Leukemia or a related illness. Thanks to extensive investments in research, the overall five-year survival rate for patients with Acute and Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia is 44% in children with Acute Lymphoctic Leukemia is 81% today.
I am walking in honor of three very special people, Danny Morris, Trevor Dickens and Dorene Good. Trevor is 9 years old and enjoys playing soccer, riding his scooter, eating Mexican food, swimming, and watching his favorite movies like The Mummy. Trevor is in remission from Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. Danny is 37 years old and enjoys scuba diving, photography, and Gospel music and he is in remission from Hodgkin’s disease. Dorene has inactive Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia. She enjoys gardening and interacting with people in the community. I will also be walking this marathon in memory of David Louis Watkins, who died of Leukemia on March 11,1992 at the age of 27. I am writing to ask that you support me by giving to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society on my behalf. I have set a goal to raise $5,500 dollars for Leukemia research. Your tax-deductible donation is the key to achieving these goals. I’m asking you to give whatever you can, because, EVERY DONATION COUNTS! Please click on the "DONATE" link to the left, and you'll find out how to support this great cause. Send your contribution by June 30, 2001 so I can monitor my fundraising progress. However, I will continue to accept contributions until October 16 what a great birthday gift I could receive. Make all checks payable to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Thank you for your time and support. If you have any questions, please feel free to e-mail me at jrglasgow10@hotmail.com Before you leave my pledge page please sign the guestbook. Sincerely, Julia R.
